Phoenix Doctors Help Patients Tackle Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic fatigue syndrome is best treated at home. You can take a number of steps to control and also relieve the CFS symptoms. The first thing to do is to adjust your daily schedule so that you can take advantage of the times you have energy and consequently feel less tired. In case a pattern exists, try to plan the workday around that particular pattern.

Plan time

Do what is possible for you to take charge of the fatigue level. Do not try to do more work when you feel you have increased energy. This will make you overtired and it will take multiple days to recover. Do make improvements to your sleep habits. Problems due to sleep could add to fatigue along with a number of other symptoms.

You should go to bed only when you feel sleepy. Get up at same time for all seven days, regardless of whether you feel you had enough rest. In case you could not sleep and lie awake for more than 15 minutes, exit the bedroom and do something quiet. Continue this until your eyes gets droopy due to sleep.

Drinks to avoid

Do not drink caffeine or alcohol. Avoid smoking before going to bed. Your sleep will be disrupted if you imbibe alcohol prior to four hours of your sleep schedule. Caffeine is a stimulant that keeps you awake. Do not take any drinks which have caffeine before sleep time.

The bedroom must be kept at a temperature you are comfortable with. Minimize all light and sound disturbances. The mattress must offer good support. Usage of neck support pillow is recommended as it will stop your neck and head from moving excessively while sleeping. It is a good idea to take naps in the middle of your workday. Keep them short like about 20 minutes. Do not take naps in the evening. Eat balanced diets and include adequate amounts of cereals, low fat dairy items, fruits, cereals, poultry, lean meats and vegetables.

Light and gentle exercises are good solutions against insomnia. Stretch your body when you can. Light aerobic exercises like swimming and walking are helpful. Try to keep a balance between the amount of exercise which makes you active and the excessive physical contortions that you become too much tired.

You can take non-prescription pain medicines to relieve headaches and joint pains due to CFS. The list of such medicines include the likes of acetaminophen, ibuprofen and naproxen. Read and accordingly follow all the instructions printed on label. Consult a doctor if the pain does not go away.

It is an excellent idea to join any support group. Such groups could be an excellent information source. They provide valuable tips on how to manage the illness. You will also have the chance to share the problems and frustrations with many people who face similar problems. To find such a group, simply ask your doctor or a local hospital. They will provide the address and related contact details of such groups. Be patient. Treatment takes time.
