Discovering the Women’s Health Services at Phoenix Family Clinic

Being a mom in today’s healthcare world is quite overwhelming. First, you have a pediatrician for your kids, an OB/GYN for your own needs, and elderly parents may have a variety of different specialists, each with their own separate office and billing policies. What if it could be easier? What if you could replace most of your family’s doctors at one location? Phoenix Family Medical Clinic strives to be your one-stop clinic for a variety of health care services. We want to help you replace many of the wellness checks done at “specialty” doctor offices with a wide variety of services available at any of our five clinics.
In the hustle of your day-to-day routine, your own personal health can suffer. Many women forego a wellness exam for themselves in favor of scheduling appointments for the kids and juggling busy schedules. Everyone over the age of 18 should have an annual physical to help monitor important vitals that can signal if there is concern to request additional testing. These vitals include:
- Blood pressure
- Cholesterol levels
- Diabetes screening
- Immunizations (when necessary)
- Pelvic exam
These types of exams are also known as preventative health care screenings because they help detect medical concerns before you realize there is a problem. They are often free or provided at reduced rates on an annual basis with most insurance plans. At Phoenix Family Medical Clinic, we can do all of these for you. Occasionally your healthcare provider may request a blood draw to test your blood sugar levels (A1C), cholesterol, and other blood-related health conditions. We have an in-house laboratory for blood draws and lab processing for your convenience.
Women should also request a women’s wellness exam at least every three years. This exam targets key areas of women’s health like breast and cervical health. A well woman exam often includes:
- Pap smears
- Clinical breast exam
- Assessment of other genetic female conditions like PMDD, PCOS, HPV, and more
- Discussion of birth control options
- Menopause
- Hormone replacement therapy
Mammograms are recommended for all women over the age of 40. They can be prescribed every two years unless you have a family history of breast cancer or certain genetic markers, in which case they will be prescribed more often. We provide referrals to affordable facilities that can handle this test for you.

HPV screening is another test that women have to help determine risk for cervical cancer. Generally this test is done every three to five years, depending on your risk factors. Your doctor may recommend you to have this screening more frequently if you are predisposed to cervical cancer.
Our providers understand that patients have a choice when it comes to their gynecological care so we strive to offer the highest quality service in a comfortable atmosphere. You receive the same level of care at our office that you would receive at a specialty OB/GYN office. Talk to your family provider at Phoenix Family Medical Clinic about the women’s health services and exams available.
Don’t put your own health on the back burner. Many diseases are preventable and others are easily treated if they are caught early. Schedule your annual well woman exam at a clinic today and get the peace of mind you need to keep up your busy schedule!
