4 Ways To Up Your Health In 2018

Health is wealth. This adage never fails to lose its meaning. Busy schedules and the constant hustle to move forward has placed health and true happiness towards the end in the list of our priorities. We tend to take our health for granted until one fine day, we find that our body is not responding the way we want it to.

It is important to worry about your health. It is important to do everything necessary to stay fit and free of illness.

Although it is way past the time to make resolutions, 2018 is still young and it is not too late to make some simple resolutions to up your health this year.

Here are some absolutely simple ways to better your health this year.

Drink plenty of water

This is something you have been hearing for years and although it is no new advice, it is definitely some good advice. The importance of keeping your body hydrated cannot be emphasized enough. Dehydration can lead to fatigue and exhaustion. Moreover, our body performs most of its functions with the help of water.

There are no clear guidelines on how much water one should be drinking daily. Although doctors suggest a minimum of 3 liters per day, in reality, the water requirement for each person varies according to their body type and the current climate.

Make sure to keep yourselves hydrated.

Do not cut out fats and carbohydrates from your diet

A common mistake most of us tend to make is to completely cut out carbohydrates and fats from our daily diet in the hopes of losing weight. This is a very unhealthy practice as proteins, fats, and carbohydrates are all equally important for the body to function properly. A good rule of thumb is 45% of your calories should come from carbohydrates, 35% from protein, and 20% from fats. This is simply a rough estimate and varies according to your age, sex, and a number of other factors.

Reduce the time on gadgets

In a world where technology is progressing rapidly, most of us are addicted to our gadgets. We tend to spend more time staring at the screens of our smartphones than socializing with the people around us. One resolution for this year should be to reduce the use of gadgets as much as possible, especially before going to bed. Using smartphones or laptops right before bed curbs the chances of a good sleep since the light from our smartphones stimulates the brain to stay awake even if we are tired.

Keep away all your devices at least an hour before bed. Spend some time meditating or simply reading a book before bed.

Travel

Fitting a trip into your busy schedule might seem like an impossible task, but it is important to stay healthy. Revolving within the corporate wheel is good for success, but it does nothing to calm your mind and body. Once in a while it is important to relieve your body of the stress you face every day and let yourself breathe.

Plan a two day trip, perhaps over the weekend. Leave all of your stress and disruptions far behind and take the time to experience nature at its very best.

This will clear your mind and strengthen your body to handle the stress back home.
