Do Not Go for Paracetamols Whenever You Suffer from Back Pain

A couple of years ago, some reports declared that paracetamol, which was regarded as the most commonly used remedy to alleviate back pain, was ineffective. The British Medical Journal published a review some years ago after doing an analysis of thirteen clinical trials. The review concluded that paracetamol made a negligible or almost no difference as far as curing the back pain was concerned. Moreover, what came as a greater shock was people who took the drug were 4 times more vulnerable to an abnormal condition of the liver.

Manner in which the research study was conducted

The study included 158,475 people, and data analysis was conducted from 36 studies. Some researchers in Helsinki's Finnish Institute of Occupational Health conducted this interesting research. When the study began, the participants of the study did not suffer from any kind of back pain. Physical activities were done as intentional exercises, and sports and climbing stairs as well as walking. If the study’s participants went through any of these physical activities for at least one hour and twice a week, the study regarded them as active.

Major findings

The study concluded that if a person is highly active, the chances of having chronic pain on your lower back can come down by 16 percent as compared to all those people who are not in the habit of exercising regularly. The study also found that indulging in moderate physical activity can reduce back pain up to 14 percent. At the same time, as mentioned before, such exercises cannot have any positive effect when the back pain lasts for only a short period or when the pain makes a person disabled and needs him or her to be hospitalized.
